As planned the SHTC RIGHT register closed on 31 August 2020.
The SHTC was dedicated to supporting therapists who began their careers with distance learning, and enabling them to complete practical training and supervision to become credible practitioners.
Unfortunately certain colleges misrepresented this so that we became inundated with distance learning graduates who had been told they did not require any other training. From Hypnotherapy to Massage these students were being led to believe that they could practice with credibility without hands on training and supervision.
We attempted to refocus the organisation back to it's proper purpose and became aware of question marks around whether our courses were being sold without full royalties being paid. Essentially more graduates were appearing, than should have been possible considering the official number of courses sold.
We subsequently cut links with these colleges, who lost the right to sell or resell any of our copyrighted materials.
What then followed was years of college mis selling claiming accreditation for courses that were being sold in breech of copyright.
Eventually the time taken helping misled students became impossible to maintain, and we have now ceased all operations.
SHTC previous members should check with their insurers since some block policy wording stated membership needed to be live, other policies should still cover graduates.
Thank you to all our members over some 13 years.
